Right after it was listed I submitted an update URL request, thanking them for the listing and requesting that they consider using the /esp.htm page for the entry point, but it wasn't changed. That was about 6 - 8 months ago.
Am I pushing my luck by asking them again, after all, they did give me this link for free.
So it is to their advantage to take Spanish visitors to the Spanish page on your site.
Maybe they ignored it because pages can disappear, but whole domains do so less often? In which case, maybe a subdomain - e,g, espanol.domain.com - whch looks more permanent might convince them to change it.
If you can't do that, maybe make the Spanish language link more obvious. Or even have a landing page for first time visitors on which they select their language, and then set a coookie to redirect them accordingly in future (using javascript I believe).
Hope that helps
About the "espaņol" button: why don't you take advantage of anchor text links, i.e. english subject/keyword page links to corresponding spanish page, whith the spanish subject/keyword.
To ask Yahoo again: maybe they find out by themselves, maybe they will look positvely at your request, maybe they will be annoyed, maybe they don't care... How important is it that they change the link to the /esp.html page? If it's very important I'd ask, but it's really hard to give advice on...
I defenitly recommend this excellent thread.

Hosting translated versions of sites with different domains has many advantages. You can make Yahoo fix this later when done.

I've gone back & forth on this for a number of years. I see both advantages and disadvantages for creating links to english6.htm -> spanish6.htm as opposed to english6.htm -> spanish1.htm.
I suppose that I am losing the chance to promote "palabra-clave6" via "keyword6", but on the other hand, I am promoting "palabra-clave1" via every page on the site.
Basically I decided having 116 links from the English version's pages to the Spanish home page was more valuable than 116 links to 116 Spanish version pages.
My serps for Google.tld for my "palabras claves" are incredible, and I get 70% of my uniques from Spanish keywords. I actually recently re-wrote one of my titles to reduce the number of visitors I was getting for a search that was irrevelant to my site, and I had no interest in making relevant.
I was considering using a subdomain like esp.domain.com but I think that people are more likely to link to www.domain.com/esp.htm.
I think I will just request a URL update. I guess I am just superstitious about "bothering" the Yahoo editors.
Thanks for the link, MacGuru - it was interesting to read that debate - I have been living in [$latin_american_country] for the past 5 years and every week the local internet audience matures a bit more - but luckily most of my "competitors" think that a flash driven site with titles like "untitled.html" and "indice.html" are okay. :)
