Yahoo! not influenced by it's own directory?

SERPS do not appear weighted....

I've just been playing around with Yahoo and noticed this.

In a particular search category, there is only one site that is listed in the Yahoo directory (with that keyword in particular).

I would expect that site, being the only one in the directory, to be higher up the list than it is (it's currently 27).

None of the sites in the top 26 results are in the Yahoo! directory.

So how much weight does it carry?

For my $299 I would want more influence than that.

Any thoughts? Am I missing something here?

<EDIT>Just for reference, this site has the same integer value (toolbar) PR as the No. 1 site in the SERPS. In terms of content, I would say that the site in the directory is better than the 26 above it.</EDIT>
