This is the first time I've ever been able to get YAHOO! to update a listing at all (w/o just paying them again for a site that was already listed), let alone an old commercial listing that was not paid.

They did it in a week (we did, however, add about 10 paid listings at about the same time as this free request) and updated the description and changed the URL. Amazing!

Kudos to YAHOO! Maybe this could be an indication of better customer service to come with respect to directory listings?

I had a good result with a free listing just lately also.

They had made a right botch of the title though. It was changed within days.

I was impressed.

Just got another one too. Impressive, now if only a new non-commercial site would get listed as quickly as the others were changed.......we'll see.

ok... man, I have to say they're working hard over there!

I just got one in a major category updated within 3 days! With my exact description, so from a KW standpoint, it's great. I'm going to have to wait a few days to see how it plays out when yahoo updates the search function.

however, it's a completely weird situation - and it might help some others think about their "deeplink & category strategy" at Yahoo.

Background:
It's a large corporate site - had an old listing in the category appropriate to their "offline" business.

6 months or so ago, I got the root domain a second listing in a completely different category with a different description - good for 1 particular keyword search.

By nature of its previous listing, it went straight into the "most popular" section of category 2.

Recently, during some of the major Yahoo changes, I discovered that root domain had suddenly been given a really broad description in both categories -more in line with their bricks & mortar reputation. It didn't really have the keyword that i was trying to target in it.

Which meant that I just had to make that request to change the description in category #2 to focus on the online sales for that keyword.

So, as i just checked it, I realized that the editors must have had to make Category 2 a unique url to be able to list it with a different description - this was not the case before, so something's changed at Yahoo to make deeplinks unique to a category.

That dumped the listing off the "most popular" group, because it's now rootdomain.com/otherdir/ -
and that other directory has a PR6, but isn't necessarily optimized for the keyword, so now I have to wait and see what the Yahoo + Google mix is going to bring up before i touch it.
