No sooner did the Google update start than I did a Y! search and poof- there is the new look. FYI...I'm in New York.

yeah, I see it too.... a little cleaner, and obvious 'Sponsor' and 'top 20 results' ....but the content is still the same.

Interesting. I didn't notice that Yahoo was now showing a cache. Was that in the preview?

Content is not quite the same as it was, but I assume that is just temporary, this has happened before.

I have been seeing the same ole clutter-filled Yahoo! search page since their supposed unveiling of a new look last Monday.

Am I missing something?

Ok, did I miss this from before?

Looks like when the top two Overture bids are over 50 cents, Y is only showing the top two, and positions 3-5 at the bottom of the page.

Is this new or has it always been that way?

crobb305, I too am only seeing the old page in the British Virgin Islands. :(

Nice results from a layout point of view.

But this is too much to take in all at once! :)

Google dance and Y! changing their look...

I am noticing different OV results but it's not consistent yet.

At least 800x600/1024x768 users will "see more" up top with the cleaner look.

The "Inside Yahoo" feature is killer. It's certainly going to kill (okay, "decrease") the response I get to search terms that get the "Inside Yahoo" link delivered.

It's a brilliant move on Yahoo's part. They've got some top notch products. They might as well flaunt them.

But, flexing their market power with "Inside Yahoo" won't be good for a lot of little guys.

i'm seeing different results between yahoo and www.google but the same results for www2.google and www3.google

seems interesting that they are showing updated pages faster than google, at least in chicago

like what i'm seeing so far ;-)

<edit> I also like that they only show 1 page per site, makes it much easier to look at and it has better results I don't know the need for 2 pages from a site <edit>

I must have missed something. What is 'inside yahoo'?

I have noted too that Yahoo tend to filter the google results so that it is less common for two pages from the same site to be displayed next to each other in the serps.

They have done this for a while and often seem to have the results settled before googles' www1...

Do like the new design - much cleaner.

martinbuster

I think that Yahoo have been splitting the overture results like that for a while now - dont use Yahoo to much though - can someone else confirm?

Do a search on something like shopping, auctions and note the inside yahoo at the top of the results page.

Cheers.

I just tried data recovery and it's showing 4 results at the top and 2 at the bottom. I also tried a few searches where bids are under a buck and see a mix of 4/2 and 2/3.

OK. I did a search. I see:

Yahoo! Search top left. A banner add to the right of that. On top of the banner add I see:

Search Home ¦ Yahoo! ¦ Help

below that is:

Your Search: with the input field and my term.

Inside that rea is:

Advanced Web Search
Preferences
Related: <snipped related terms> More...

below that I see:

Web Directory News Yellow Pages Images What's New ¦ Send Feedback powered by HP

I do not see anything about 'inside yahoo' at all.

<shrug> Maybe it's something they rolled out on certain servers? I did a search to find the text 'inside yahoo' and it found nothing. Is it a graphic or text link?

Or I am totally blind. ;)

OK- forget my last post. I was doing searches for other things...not shopping.

Wow. yeah. If you sell a product like 'camcorders' for example- that may snatch a fair amount of searches.

Well, I guess the old page had tons of banner adds, but this is more direct. "interesting"
