For the first three months of the year, Yahoo (YHOO) posted a profit of $47 million, or 8 cents a share, on revenue of $283 million. Sales were up 47 percent from the same period a year ago, when Yahoo reported revenues of $192.7 million.
The Sunnyvale, California, company attributed its strong showing to growing sales of subscription services, sponsored search and high-speed Internet access provided through a partnership with SBC Communications.
