Annoying Yahoo update for Yahoo Companion

Hello, Can someone tell me how to get rid a a popup that comes up everytime I go online with internet explorer 6.0 and states a Yahoo Companion update is needed and I have to
click it off each time. I do not have Yahoo Companion on
my computer and I have allowed it to update and it can not but still comes up everytime I go online. It is extremely irritating and I would be very appreciative to anyone who can tell me how to stop it.

I don't really know what this is and am not a techie, so unfortunately I can't really help.

If you have Yahoo Messenger try uninstalling it.

Thank You very much. I ended up here because it was the
only link I could find to Yahoo. Direct contact with Yahoo is like trying to direct link with e-bay. Both are definitely guarded secrets. I will find a way somewhere to get rid of it.
