I'm new to building websites and such and was wondering what the pros and cons were to use Yahoo as the host for my website. Would that be wise? Does anyone else have experience using Yahoo for a host? Thanks!

Hi dave, welcome to WebmasterWorld.

I've not hosted with Yahoo but wouldn't suggest you use them just because they have become so highly commercial and unpredictable. They are in a mad rush to monetize and you can't trust them.

There are so many places where you can host your site inexpensively and reliably that I don't see a need for you to host with yahoo.

Hi 2Much & forum,
My site is a Yahoo store (up about 6 months) and I'm wondering what might be going on with a cookie icon suddenly showing up in the address box when a visitor finds my site thru search engines; (redirecting to yahoo vip1 store address). It seems to have just started today. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Janew, the best place to ask those type of questions are in the Yahoo store users forum:

[ystoretools.com...]

And BTW, I don't know of anyone there that has or is using the Yahoo server aside from their store.

Thank you, windsun. Did not know about that resource. Still stumped.

Argh! I've just taken over updating a site that is hosted on Yahoo and am very frustrated. I'm not an expert programmer, but advanced enough to do a lot on my own without any help (till now). But I can't for the life of me figure out how to use page includes on their server. I've sent their Customer Service 2 emails so far - no reply, and I'm about pulling my hair out, because this is usually pretty simple. I am new and just registered with WebmasterWorld so I can vent about this. If anyone can help, please let me know.

And for Davewray - be afraid. I would suggest going somewhere else. My 2 cents worth.

Thank you :-)
