Yahoo.co.uk - Are They Testing New System?

All Yahoo.co.uk results are now from the web by default.

It looks as if Yahoo.co.uk are Beta Testing the same system that was being used in the Yahoo.Com site before Christmas, the whole directory is now not worth submitting too, at the moment as the main results being displayed are from the web (Looks like Google)with a listing ammendment.

Does anyone know how long this testing lasts?
Will it ever get back to normal?

First Yahoo charge you silly money for a review to listing then they cut you off from searches.

Their first responsibility should be to their directory submissions and then the web results.

My sales as refered from Yahoo.co.uk have fallen 50%-70% and I dont believe thatI will be renewing my listing payment.

tigerman,

I see your point, but their 1st responsibility is making £££s for the shareholders in my opinion.

Tigerman - I AGREE WITH YOU TOTALLY! My sales have fallen by nearly 75% as well since the Yahoo switch on October 8th. I'm still hoping something will change back soon.

If you are in business it is simple, look after your customers first. Without the customers you dont have a business.

Then the shareholders wont be happy.

Yahoo are not looking after their customers.
I sent an e-mail to their UK Office uk-directory@uk.yahoo-inc.com asking what was happening.
(I am sure this is the correct e-mail - does anyone know any different?)

I informed them of my interest, being a paying advertiser and I have still got no reply.

Maybe the UK directory support dont know what is going on, and all this is comming from a USA led move.

All of this has been discussed thoroughly. The changes are in effect at most Yahoo sites for quite a while.
For some members it has had positive overall effects, for some, specifically those who don't rank in Google this has been a bad awakening.

Yahoo has had a very positive year financially. To them it was the right move business wise.
Nobody is forced to renew their listings.

Face it, folks - this train is long gone.

The changes at ukyahoo are very different from those at .com, they do not seem to be straight google at least in the keywords I monitor it seems yahoo are applying some kind of alogo of their own.

Is anyone else finding this?

Now that is interesting!

That is exactly what has happened to my site. Listed in the google results, Listed in Yahoo diectory, yet main page does not appear in the serp at all, another page does appear but without the red arrow, and I have been through all the results.

What is going on?

If so why take the bother to add your reply?

I also have noticed that UK Yahoo directory is working in a different way to that of the Yahoo.com maybe you have not noticed this?

I see Terrier has noticed somthing in the same way.

Heini If you have something usefull to add then feel free, if not, why waste your time and valuable thread space?

This has nothing to do with trains being long Gone, or how one ranks in Google, It is something else!

Is Yahoo is trying something out, if they are it is not something being tried on the .com index.

It does not appear to be Ink either.

Anyone got any suggestions?

I just can't figure this out. Over 100 of my sub oages show fine; my directory listing shows fine; but my main page, top ten Goggle listing shows not at all, it's simply not there.

It's missing completely. Other pages are there but not the main one.

Very Odd.

I first noticed this two or three weeks ago and thought it was just a glitch and would sort itself out. I hate not understanding what is going on LOL. I do wonder if we should just wait and see what yahoo are going to do.

At present the results do fluctuate but only seem to bring up the oddest of pages.

Are they using Uk as a test prior to getting rid of the G results?

Yahoo.co.uk now have a dedicated customer care number for UK Webmasters!

Did anyone know this?
Has anyone used it?
Their telephone number is 09068120819 (of Course they charge you for it)
For anyone who may wish to use it.

Maybe we will finally get answers to those questions.

I will post any information I get from Yahoo.
If anyone else would also post any information they get It may help.

Yes... I got through to the customer services number and guess what!

I asked these questions.

QUESTION:

Are you aware that Yahoo.co.uk is currently displaying results from the web and not the directory.

Yahoo.co.uk Customer Services ANSWER:

Yes, that is correct.

QUESTION:

Will the directory be returned as the default results provider for yahoo searches?

Yahoo.co.uk Customer Services ANSWER:
I am sorry but we are not permitted to answer that question.

QUESTION
Is Yahoo.co.uk just testing a new system

Yahoo.co.uk Customer Services ANSWER:
I am sorry but we are not permitted to answer that question.

QUESTION:
Is there anyone in Yahoo who could answer the questions

Yahoo.co.uk Customer Services ANSWER:

I do not belive that anyone within UK Yahoo will answer those questions.
You could if you wish write an e-mail to webmaster@yahoo.co.uk and see what happens but I do not believe that you will get an answer.

Thank you Yahoo Customer Services for being so open to your customers.

Why will they not answer these simple questions?
I was aware that the answer the customer services representitive gave: "I am sorry but we are not permitted to answer that question." was well rehersed and straight out of the Yahoo Answers book.

What is going on?
What are they hiding?

I infomed the customer services representive what my intentions were, I was a webmaster who currently advertised on Yahoo.co.uk and I have a paid for review listing on Yahoo.co.uk and I was concerned as a customer.

Hope this helps you as it sure as heck did not help me.

I now have no listing at all on Yahoo.co.uk and a number 1 listing on Google.co.uk for search terms that I had number 1 listing on Yahoo!

Yahoo what are you doing!

It is Saturday 09.39am and I think I need a drink.
