You acknowledge that the payment of this fee is for consideration of your site AND DOES NOT IN ANY WAY GUARANTEE THAT YOUR SITE WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE DIRECTORY. Your payment only guarantees that Yahoo! will consider and respond to your request within seven business days, by either accepting or not accepting your site. You expressly agree to pay to Yahoo! such fee whether or not your site is accepted or denied inclusion in the Directory.

What is that?

I just wanted to submit a few sites, but paying $299 just so they can look at them and turn me down without a refund - crazy.

Did I get this right?
How do people submit commercial sites and what are the chances of not being included after your've paid 3 bills a piece?

usually not-including after paying doesn't happen, so go on and submit if you have the money.

>How do people submit commercial sites

The only way to get a commercial site listed is to pay.

>what are the chances of not being included after your've paid 3 bills a piece

Unless your site is a real disaster, it will probably be added. Y! is in business to make money. No one would pay for review if their chances were not good.

>insane... or is it just me?

Yes, it is insane. But that's how it is.

Well, one of the sites I want to include is in my profile.

It's a nice site, but I resell for a large distributor.
I was stuck in some crapy category in ODP as an affiliate, so I'm afraid the same would happen with Yahoo.

In the best case, they would just stick me somewhere under that company's MLM alphabetical tree, which basically means no PR and no visitors.

So out of two benifits - I would get none.

I've found in the past that normally editors will pull a description apart as much as they can but will list the site in the chosen category

Ok thanks.
I guess I'll submit them when I'll be in the mood for some gambling :)

I wanted to reply to this message because my site did get turned down two years ago by Yahoo after paying $299.00. I was VERY upset and contacted my webmaster about the problem.

After cooling down, I re-read the e-mail and at the bottom, the person who reviewed my site included some very helpful tips about a couple of improvements.

The problem was that when I named my pictures, about 5 had names that included spaces and were shown as broken images in Netscape. (as you can see, I have no formal web training)

I resubmitted and within two days I had been accepted thanks to an editor who took the time to help me with a problem I didn't know I had. In the long run, it was well worth the investment.

Did you have to pay the second time or did theyy accept the re-submission?

Thanks for the info.

Do not worry
I am in web promotion business and have submitted over 50 websites to yahoo and all of them without exception were accepted. but to tell you the truth I do not think it worth much now because google has taken over the result.
You need some promotion help.

I am not recommending yahoo business including to most of my clients any more , just in rare cases I do.

Well, I'm getting about 1.5k referrals per day from google and friends and it will probaly increase with the next update.

I want to get in yahoo and inktomi simply because there is not much more I can squeeze from google at this time :)
Does not mean I'm going to stop, but I might as well get included in y and i.

Thanks for the welcome...

I did not have to pay for them to review the site a second time. In the e-mail they sent me that told me I was not accepted, it gave me a certain number of days (I don't remember exactly the time frame) to correct my problems and re-submit.

Yahoo was well worth the time and expense.
