Is a single Yahoo! directory listing not just one inbound link . . .

. . . but several?

If you have a Yahoo! directory listing, traditionally, people say that this is a good inbound link to have. However, is it not just one link, but maybe seven or so?

One English-language listing in Yahoo! will show up in US Yahoo!, asia.yahoo.com, sg.yahoo.com, au.yahoo.com, ca.yahoo.com, in.yahoo.com, uk.yahoo.com, and maybe more that I've overlooked. And these are all discrete URLs . . .

In terms of link popularity, is what we think of as a single listing and link therefore possibly considered to be seven inbound links by Google, if the non-US Yahoo! pages are indexed by Google? Perhaps Google only indexes Yahoo! pages from the Yahoo! "mothership."

Any ideas?

Using the G link: yourdomain.com a number of Y! links appear, eg .ca, so IMO it is worth more than a single link.

Yes. Sometimes I link back to the page in the other Yahoo's where my site is listed, that often helps.

please explain how a U.S. yahoo listing appears in these other places, it has been my experience that each directory is discrete and there I have not found my listing in US Yahoo anywhere BUT in US Yahoo....

I am not sure of what goes on behind the scenes, but I think once you are listed in US Yahoo!, your listing will be automatically inserted across all English-language Yahoo!s. Go to asia.yahoo.com, for example, and drill down through the categories as you normally would, and you should see your listing.

I submitted one site through asia.yahoo.com and was told in an email that it would be added to not only asia yahoo, but also to the US and other English-lang. Yahoo!s.

Hope this helps,
