I just noticed that Yahoo changed the SERP page and now they are not even telling users that results are being provided by Google. In addition, now there is also a link, where user can see results only from the directory (but it seems like PR still plays big role).

Is everyone seeing the same, or it is only me?

No Google branding here either. I see the link to the directory too.

Interesting.

Anybody found any non Google results, i.e. results from other SEs?

Makes sense. I thought Yahoo was all kinds of stupid revealing that they were just warmed over Google SERPs. This just encourages people to switch to the much cleaner Google interface, then the terrible Yahoo! one. Thus Yahoo! is trying to hide the Google connection.

Yahoo results for my key words today are not only not google results, they are a complete dogs breakfast. My site shows high on first page on google. Not on the first 4 pages of Yahoo that I checked. I don't recognise half the sites on the current serps. It looks to me, for my keywords, yahoo just isn't using any sensible algo at all. Broken? Middle of a change? Trouble digesting the new google?

I'm still seeing stuff from Google.

The textlink to Google is gone. In fact the only mention of Google I could find is at this point a tiny text at the very bottom of the serps.

As for the results I couldn't find any non Google serps.
Nevertheless - we should look very very carefully from now on...

It's Google, but a different order. With the update going on everything is in flux so it is hard to tell.

(While I was checking the Serps, Yahoo popped up a survey about shopping for books online: where I buy books online, price comparisons, features etc.)</aside>

It is google I confirmed it by searching for the terms I have targeted in google and they appear just underneath the sponsored matches in the same order as google.com

Yup you are right, however, the concern is with Google Credit that use to be on the top of the page.

I am not sure, but I smell someone else along with Google in Yahoo SERP. [if not rightaway, then soon? ]

Also, I believe one reason Yahoo would put a link to directory results is to promote their Express Submission. As when they went with Google and everybody noticed that Directory results are useless, they wanted everyone to have a reason to spend that US$ 299.00/year . I guess, they did found one.

I have gone back several times to confirm what I saw on Yahoo for my keywords. With all the reports here from experienced observers, I was sure I was mistaken. But, it continues to be totally non-google for me and shows lists that look unlike any serp I've seen on other SE's. Some of the listings are absurdly wrong. Like Snippets from US National Parks showing up under Canadian location site titles. One switched from Arches to Capital Reef parks on a refresh. It is shifting around a little, so whatever it is isn't over yet. Isn't anyone else seeing this?

From Italy, searching on Yahoo.com I get Google results.

Are you searching on Yahoo.com or on a local Yahoo?

I have used Yahoo.com

The search that has been giving me the odd results was "location lodging". When I try "location accommodation" it gives me normal results. Does that make sense to anyone?

Many issues here, let's see if I can summarize them:

1. Changes in SERP's - this happened about 3 weeks ago for most users.

2. De-emphasizing Google - this also came with the new SERP's and must be part of their attempt to keep users in Yahoo

3. Weird results - I've seen these occasionally, and believe them to be coming from a combination of Ink and Fast, while some that I don't recognize from any other engine.

If we could all keep our eyes open and perhaps take screen shots of the Weird SERP's, perhaps we could identify where they're coming from?

I just checked Yahoo in Canada, which redirects to ca.yahoo.com - they're showing the Directory listings as the default, in about the same order as main Yahoo did. And yahoo.co.uk is displaying by categories as default.

I hadn't checked those before, what have they been doing past few weeks, before today?

Not sure about Canadian Y!, but none of the other local Yahoos had taken over the US style yet.

From what I have seen yahoo.co.uk has remained unchanged. Still shows...

"Please Note: The results below are provided by the search engine Google and are not controlled by Yahoo"

As Marcia pointed out it also displays categories by default.

Marcia,

The Canadian results didn't changed when the .com did.

I asked the Yahoo rep about this at the Pub Conference and he said, "All of the Yahoo's act independently from each other", because of this, he also said that he had no idea what the .com was up to and that he was unaware of any plans for the .co.uk to change to the same style (he only represented .co.uk).

Cast your mind back to when the changes were made, it did say that this only applied to yahoo.com results and that each country was allowed to broker it's own deal.

I think this is part of the reason why the deal was non-exclusive. Google may carry a lot of clout in most countries, but there will be others where it's probably not such a dominant force (China springs to mind).

In countries where other search engines might have a better deal of paying Yahoo more money rather than just Google, it helps to leave the door open for local negotiations to take place.

As we all know the Google dance is just finishing off, so because it's the first under this new arrangement it is likely to throw up some stranger results than normal, while it beds down.

I'll resever judgement until I've seen things return from Crazyville.

After a nights sleep, I went back this morning and I am still getting the same odd results on Yahoo.com, totally different from those on google. Went to Yahoo UK and Yahoo AUS/NZ and they also give me the identical odd results page.

My google defaults me to the Canadian google. Could this be somehow related to the difference in results I'm getting from those of you in other countries?

Any Canadian able to confirm what I'm getting? I am starting to wonder about being the only one....

Now that makes me wonder. We have different results for travel searches, but up tpo now I only saw this happening when changing the language interface in the search string.
Skier, you don't happen to have french (hl=fr) in your string?

Thanks for your interest heini.

No, I don't have any french language elements. At least none that I put in intentionally.

I took a look, being Canadian and all.

I compared google.ca and google.com first. - exactly the same

google.com and yahoo.com
the first ten results are exactly the same, with yahoo dropping the subsite/indented listing. After the first 10 they are absolutely and completely different. I checked the first 30 but found no relation between the two sets of results.

Skier, what I meant was this:
[google.com...] name]+[lodging type]&btnG=Google+Search
as opposed to this:
[google.com...] name]+[lodging type]&btnG=Google+Search

Jatar, you say a totally different set of results: still Google then?

I've been looking at it.

fr and en are the same, in this case. When looking at the yahoo serp's it doesn't have to do with having/not having a yahoo listing. It is difficult to discern whether it is just an everflux situation or a difference in the yahoo displaying of listing.

All of the strange listings are in G, they just seem to be varied amounts of buried, they just appear in the middle of the google.com listings.

I don't know if yahoo shows live listings or if they update the listing they have from G every so often.

anyone?
