Google Site Maps - reported position disagrees with manual check

I'm signed up with Google Site Maps to help me with some of my SEO.

For my key search term, it says that I come up in about 10th place (i know... 'on average').

However, all the data centers place me at 25th to 29th.... which i've confirmed manually.

Anyone know whats going on?

The info in sitemaps doesn't seem to be "current", and is only updated every so often (once every week or two?)

i've noticed this too. but it's not that sitemaps are reporting old rankings. its rankings don't correspond to any results i've observed. maybe they are drawing from one of the dc's that g1smd recently discovered.
