Doorway page?

I operate a site that sells sports equipment. I recently bought a number of old DMOZ indexed sports sites that are generally Google PR 4 or 5.

I have been using these sites to give my main commerce site a bunch of nice inbound links.

Recently someone I know who knows a good bit about SEO told me that one of these sites in particular was just a "doorway site" and that Google wouldn't like it.

The site is PR5 and it consists of 5 pages of unique authored content about different types of sports equipment with links into the respective types of equipement on my site.

Is this something Google will frown on?

I think it depends on the quality of the content but it does not sound like a classic doorway page to me. Is there a Google doorway page definition anywhere?

I understood that doorway pages were created to catch traffic and direct them into specific sites. I don't know how this goes when existing sites are used as doorway pages.

I wouldn't call such site as a Doorway pages. It could be for example a site of one of your affiliates in case you have an affiliate program.
