Hi all,

This is a probably a very strange (and stupid) question....

When I do a search on google and msn for my website domain, ie www.example.com, it shows up with a an OLD title and description that I removed and replaced with something else AGES ago. I went through each and every page on my website to see if that old title and description is still there, but I cannot find it. On yahoo however, the title and description is correct.

Any suggestion please as I'm breaking my head on this one.

Hi llmm,

Welcome to WebmasterWorld.

You can view when the page that google or the other search engines have snapped by clicking on 'cached' this will tell you when the page was last visited by the robots.

The chances are that the site for some reason has not been visited recently by that search engine.

Hi dwighty,

Thats what I thought, but the cached version is 6 June 2006, so its definitely not this.

Is it a DMOZ title? There's a thread talking about that. And that issue is also mentioned in the long data center thread.

Hi leppjc,

Yes I think it is a DMOZ link/description. Anything I can do about it?

Submit an update request to DMOZ... I just did that today for the same reason. No change yet, but I've heard they're usually quick about update requests.

For MSN, you can opt out of the Open Directory description. There is more information on MSN's Search WebLog [blogs.msdn.com].

Thanks all! I changed my listing in DMOZ - that is definitely where the problem was.
