Is there anything I can do to stop sites that spam guestbooks appearing in Googles index?
A couple of my sites have dropped out of the top 10 due to a site that was set-up less than 12 says ago spamming the hell out of guestbooks across the internet gaining more back links than my sites that have been indexed by Google for years.

Are there any official Google complaint procedures available as Im sure it completely ruins Google's attempts at supplying only the most relevant/legitimate sites in its results.

Any ideas to combat this greatfully received...

Liam.

You could file a complaint here under "other":

[google.com...]

Thanks, i'll give that a go.
I tried contacting the hosting company whos policy states that they are against their site owners spamming but didn't even get a reply!

Also you could use the IMAGE verification technique (CAPTCHA) to stop robots spamming your guestbooks

Why does everyone want to stop blind and partially sighted people from using the web? Image verification is not accessible. Use a trivia-based captcha, it's much better.

Yes using a CAPTCHA which Has both Audio as well as image support maybe something like this one [ejeliot.com...] maybe good for all types of users.

TBH my friend the same thing happened to us. We worked out what they were doing and joined them. Spam report is like spitting in the wind.

Encourage the guestbook administrators to complain to the site's hosting company. :)

Guestbook spamming still works? I thought Google put a stop to that years ago.
