Sites with no indexing problems - what's the common factor?

I'd like to see if we could turn our attention to sites that have been seemingly un-affected by the indexing problems.

To start with, I'm observing a site with around 1.1M pages , holding plentiful top positions with many keywords, that has not been effected by the alterations on Google.

What makes this site and others so special!

Does anyone have a similar story, and is this a sign that some sites can work well through changes made by Google?

Lorel - How long is this site taking to cache and index, and how long have these pages been up?

btw - have you seen any backlink movement? :

I'm just trying to understand if you have these sites on track, following your formula for "stability" indexing through updates.

One of the things that has not been brought up are IBLs and where they are pointing to. If all of your IBLs are pointing to your home page, I do believe you miss out on some very important exposure. Many have exchanged links where the links go from home page to home page.

I have a few sites in my portfolio and none of them have been affected by any of Google's shuffling over the years. Most of the sites I manage have a history too.

They all validate to at least a 4.01 Strict DTD. They all utilize CSS and are very lean code wise (15-30k). All of the sites I manage also use AP and source ordered content. All of them follow the guidelines "by the book". And no, I don't consider that to be of any hat color, I just like to follow the standards and guidelines knowing that I'm on safe ground at all times.

The secret sauce is there. You need just the right balance of ingredients to really bring the flavor out. ;)
