I have gotten diffent search results on various machines. I.E. I search for "search term" on machine 1 and site www.site.com is ranked 5th. I do the same search on machine 2 and site www.site.com is ranked 10th. What gives?

I have flushed the dns, and deleted all temp pages cookies etc on both machines and still get the same results.

Any Ideas?

Is one or the other machine logged in to a Google account at the time of the search? If so, it could be personalized results.

yes, or the http_language sent by the browsers are different which also could have some effect.

I don't think it the browser or being signed in to google, I've tried the same search in IE and Firefox, and I tried the search signed in and not signed in. I still get the same results.

I think it might be a Name Server issue(i.e what ip your ISP gets google from) along with the shear size google and how long it takes the ISP NS caches to resolve.

I tried a search on two machines with different ISP's.
On machine1 I pinged google and get 72.14.207.99 , it resolves to Google English which gets the same search results as machine2 does if I type google in the address bar. If I type google in the address bar of machine1 I get different search results. And further more if I go to goodle.com.au I get another set of results. It seems to me that google.com is resolveing to different versions of the google index on the different machines.
