I just found my blog in Google for a certain search term. The description contained a snippet from a post I just made minutes ago - and when I check Google's cache of the page it is from a week ago. So Google appears to never have crawled this information - but there it is in the SERPS. Anyone else noticed this? Is this new?

That's amazing. Your post is the first I've heard of this, but I certainly wouldn't rule it out. But doesn't a time frame of just minutes seem extremely fast?

I know! - But it was literally less than 10 minutes between the time I posted and the time I found the search.

Is the blog hosted at blogspot?

I've never heard of this either, and to be honest I would rule it out - instant update across billions of web pages simply isn't feasible with any current technology.

Something else is afoot.

If it's a blogspot blog, I'd be suspicious that google are prioritising that content.

Well, instant update of a select group of pages probably is possible.

What do your logs tell you regarding googlebot visits?

hmm, I do not have access to my raw logs - only urchin stats, and they don't tell me squat. :( Can you tell if googlebot hits an RSS feed normally?

We might have to wait until this happens to someone with log access then.

It could just be an extreme coincidence of course - if this was a widespread thing, I would have anticipated a lot more posts from other members.

Put it down to a freak occurance.
