PR 0 on google

I was closely following the forums on penalties during november last when one of my sites displayed the zero rank. The position has not changed for over four months and this is scary. I have not cross linked. Just submission to directories. The tricks I tried were the noscript tag, listing all URLs where the site got submitted in the site ( just to help google find my links ) and of course a liberal dose of key words in the text. The PR bar shows a white band. I have even cleaned up some pages. MSN ranks the site ok and the site has been listed in Dmoz

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Beeg.

When you say that you used the noscript tag, was it helpful content for non-script using visitors, or was it repeated keywords? If the latter, then you could expect problems if you are subject to a human review.

Often, PR0 when you have links from pages from PR is due to you linking to someone who'd been penalised or banned.

seriously don't waste any time, if nothing improves
in 60 days, it never will.

Start again, new ISP, new hosting, clear your old site out - link to no-one, put a javascript forwarder on. Then get everyone you know to link to you.

I don't think I'd recommend any one here falls into the trap of thinking google are some god force and everything they do is "correct", action is needed if results aren't forthcoming - I certainly wouldn't roll out 12 month plans if I were you.

Life is too short.

Thanks guys, I wrote to google and mercifully got a reply. They gave very noncommital reply saying that you should not worry and similar yada. Though it is a reassurance, I was wondering at the cause of PR 0. As CIML says the javascript is offensive to human editors, but the nub of the issue is greater clarity on PR 0. I will just detail out the process so that some body can put a finger on the process.
1. Site submitted to google in mid october 02.
2. Site has plenty of key phrases, noscript, alt text and big font size
3. Site has certain pages which is repeated content
4. A set of directory links which point to the site were included in the site.
5. Site gets indexed late December
6. All links to each page are displayed for a day with no PR assigned
7. All links disappear in a couple of days resulting in white doom
8. Most links are found in the ' contain the term' but not present as links.
9. Removed duplicate content and toned down noscript
10. Things have not changed
