I was just looking through my logs and noticed that google is requesting quite a lot of dynamis (unlinked pages) and arriving with a query string.

example....
64.68.82.54 - - [02/Mar/2003:11:02:27 +0000] "GET /serp.php?q=water%20treatment%20plants&Submit=Search HTTP/1.0" 200 10798 "-" "Googlebot/2.1 (+http://www.googlebot.com/bot.html)"

On my server serp.php is the location of a search script that parses results from a search engine.

Do you think this is people suggesting this link at google so as to get their sites indexed.

Never seen google bot doing this before.

I just saw Gbot asking for dynamic pages with really weird parameters. Not sure what it is about but there are definitely no such links to these pages. Something is up. Maybe in this update we'll see even more dynamic pages indexed. I run search on my Windows box via an ASP page. Maybe some queries will yield pages in the cache. Poses some innteresting possibilities!

Although some people have ideas about the Toolbar being used to find new URLs (maybe true?), it's most likely that some page links to those URLs.

Could it be the stats pages of the sites you link to from the searches?

Not likely. Some of the variables that were entered have no data on my site including links.

There are definaltly no pages than link to the php pages I mentioned. Google is coming to the site requesting those pages and going. I tend to think it is someone using the add url link at google to try and get their sites indexed.

I even renamed serp.php to searcher/index.php
