You could achieve that figure by having one person visit your site, but they access 20,000,000 pages.

A little "onload" code could do that :)

I thought my 1200 visitors per day was decent, but it seems Google isn't interested unless you're enormous.

I'm sure they will lower the figure over time. They probably want to deal with the big fish first, makes life a lot easier for them.
