Sure someone would like to see how the google site has changed over time

Well here is a tool:

[web.archive.org...]

If you put your site in you may be able to recover the design that used to work for Google too or look at how far you've come since your site was started?

Yes it's a wonderful tool sometimes.

A older thread about it [webmasterworld.com]

This is almost funny: ":Index contains ~25 million pages (soon to be much bigger).."

From 1999.

From now: ©2003 Google - Searching 3,083,324,652 web pages...

Crikey. 25M pages only three-four years ago. Just goes to show that lots can change very quickly in this field.

..and thanks to Google actively reviewing once-banned/0-ranked/penalized sites (which are now no longer being naughty) it can only grow and grow. Google - I love 'em! Appreciate it GoogleGuy...really do...

I love the very first version of Google in the way back machine. Here's what it says

Welcome to Google
Google Search Engine Prototype
Might-work-some-of-the-time-prototype that is much more up to date.

My, how things have changed!

Definitely a big improvement on the logo. The original logo, in the Dec 2 1998 snapshot, is rather, well, ugly!

Quite interesting to see how Google has continually tweaked their home page. Also notable is how relatively stable it has been - never any banner ads or anything.

I agree with the logo improvement... same color-combination scheme, but in addition to font change, they have removed the Yahoo!-style "!" exclamation off the end as well.

I thought this thread was going to be either about Google employees working overtime or about SEO's working overtime doing Google-optimisation...

Except for GoogleGuy... Google employees don't work overtime - they just relax in bean bags and play the piano with their pigeons..........
