If Google were to implement new content filters

what would you want them to be?

A lot of speculation here and other places about Google changing their algo dramatically to fight spam.

Besides manual checks, what would be some of the things everybody would like to see? Also, what do you think are the biggest spam problems and how could Google feasably combat them?

One inevitable problem is the innocent getting tagged in the frey.

Detect when the same company with different domains takes up 5 or more of the first 10 results.

I thought about this, but there's no real way to do it with an algo. It's too easy to make whois entries differently and host pages on different servers. Also, in some cases, the same company has to sites with relevant pages.

An example I have used before is if you search downloads on google you get ZDNET and CNET for the first two results. Even though they are the same company, they are very relevant to the search.

mfishy,

I don't think the word 'dramatically' was used. I do think a kind of 'content validation' for incoming links will be the biggie.
