Question on "bad neighborhood" links

How do they effect the rest of your site?

Let's say you have an index.html. From there, you have linked a standard pyramid of content. You also have linked a links.html. Now, let's say your links.html has enough bad neighborhood links to trigger a dip in your PR. What pages on your domain suffer? Just the links.html? The links.html and the index.html? The links.html, index.html, and your content pyramid? How is this penalty applied?

Hi FourDegreez & welcome to WebmasterWorld ;)

Based on what you have written no negative effect should be felt at all. Assuming you are NOT linking back to these bad neighborhoods.

Hi Fathom

I think, by default, that FourDegreez is saying they reciprocal link from their links.html page.

Sure FourDegreez, this can cause you problems. Suggest you forbid things like adult sites, casino sites and pill sites from your exchange list.

Google currently seem not to be penalizing. But they did, and I believe it is temporary and they will again.
