Webmaster crosslinking

Harmless, Shameless self-promotion right?

I have a dozen domains on a VPS on the same IP. Is there a chance Googlebot will think I'm a crosslinker if I stick a mice-type "Site Design by..." link on bottom of all of my clients' pages that links to my main Web design company domain on the same IP?

hi skipfactor,

the crosslinking issue seems to be a hot pick. for your scenario imho you should do that: you reference your work. google won't kick you out or it would do with me, too. ;)

for more info i crosslink some crosslinking threads in here:

skipfactor if you have a good selection of unique links you should not have any negative affect.

Defining a "good selection" can be difficult - on a Virtual host I would 2:1 is fair. (2 being yours & 1 being any domain outside of your host.

The answer is no unless you also link to those dozen clients on your site. Remember, crosslinking involves sites that link to each other. If you don't link to these clients on your site, then there is no crosslinking.

hi rfgdxm1, even skipfactor did not mention it, for webmaster / webdesigner in general they keep a portfolio online which would then do the linking back to their client sites (or their own).

if skipfactor does not do so, then you're right. there would be no crosslinking at all. ;)

Got you. No, no interlinking BS involved, just a small ad for my small business. Thank you all, great answers as usual, what a resource!
