When you create a new doorway page with good content, do you have to submit it on its own or do you just leave it and hope the engines will crawl to it through existing (already indexed) pages?

Make some links to it from your existing indexed pages - ensure it fits in with the rest of your site though.

OR

Get some new inbound links to the new doorway page. Others may be able to give better advice but that is my opinion.

To help clarify, google states
Avoid "doorway" pages created just for search engines

Doorway pages intended *just* for search engines are spam. Not everyone limits the definition of doorway pages to the spammy doorway pages.

I have many entry pages to my site that do serve a purpose to the user. Before I learned about the spammy version of "doorway pages" I tended to refer to these pages as "gateway pages".

These pages aren't there for the search engines, in fact, they probably reduce the number of incoming deep links that I receive from some sites. They are there for the convienience of the user and the manufacturers that link to them.
