Link Popularity?

How can a new site increase it quickly to compete?

I am launching a new affiliate site with reviews and great content. However, every site for the keywords I am competing for have upwords of 500 backward links.

I know time is a great factor in ranking, but do you all recommend any techniques or programs to use to make the process of gathering inbound links more efficient?

Thanks for your help

It sounds like you are trying to compete on a very competitive term. I recommend that when you first launch a site that you take the middle ground. Choose less competitve and more targeted terms. Later as your site builds you will be able to compete on the major terms.

Don't fall for get links quick schemes. Don't get suckered into the "tricking" the search engine mentality.

This job of building up the site takes constant and steady work. There really isn't a quick way to do it.

I've watched my client's competitors slowly get stronger and stronger over the months. From negligible PR to actually ranking on keywords. I admire them for their work, as it's relatively clean.
