Has anyone seen this book yet, there are sample chapters on their site. So its not a book to getting #1 on the search engines although im betting it does touch submission ;) GoogleAPI information may be informative.

I am new to this board however not new at all to the internet or basic SEO strategies.

You mention "Brett" in your post. Do you know him? Also does he verify that he makes 15K a day by showing any proof?
Im not putting him down or doubting that he does, things can get taken so wrong via text, I personally know people that make bucket loads on the net.
I am just curious if he provides verifiable proof or gives tips on HOW he does it.

I know him :). Brett_Tabke is the person who runs the site. He is not talking about money, but visitors. 15,000 visitors a day from Google. Here is the thread in question:

I've seen marketers bring in that kind of money once in a while so it caught my eye :-)
The book looks like a great value if you know coding and java and all that but heck...im just a little marketer who is nothing without those that can do programming :-)

That is where you are wrong.
I can barely do simple HTML without referring to a book, but with a lot of tips from here and other places, I have gotten our main sites and ecommerce sites on the first page for the majority of importan keywords - and #1 for a few. Generally FAR ahead of the competition - usually the sites ahead of us are government and/or edu sites.
Our sites are pretty much java free, except for a few things like menu buttons that Frontpage puts in.
Like the FAQ sheet says - keep it simple - especially if you are selling something.
The book actually contains two types of hacks: there are "programming" hacks, which involve programming, natch. Most of these are in Perl. Some of them are in Python, Java, etc. Even if you are not a programmer you might find these hacks useful, since many of them are already set up online.
The other type of hack is the "technique" hack, which discusses how to do a particular thing with Google -- find directories, make the most of the news search, use inurl: vs site: properly, etc.
