The #1 site for my search drives me up the wall. according to google directory their PR is lower, the source of their index page shows just a title tag and a frame set and their content is

This page uses frames, but your browser doesn't support them.

BUT dmoz gave them (imho, a not deserved star:))

My site is #3 (after a nonrelated same keyword site)

Could the dmoz star make such a difference, that it reverses pagerank?

or is the listing in google directory with same page rank random? - but then why was I always on top?

so many questions :)

PR can be beaten, you have to remember its just part of the ranking process Google uses

Have you checked the no frames content to see what they are doing behind the scenes?

I don't see how a Dmoz star would give a boost to rankings

Check out some of the sites linking to it, one of my main keywords is taken by a hand full of sites that are all interlinked using keyword anchor text links from keyword URL's so right now I don't stand a chance

I was afraid you were going to say something like that.

Their domain name IS the keyword and obviously ALL his inbound links have that name ...

as to noframe content: NONE - infuriating, not even a description tag; <title> - that's it; oh and frontpage BS, very very ennoying

:)

do you think it would be worth to reduce my title to the keyword?

I saw a post (by Brett?) that allocated points to the various factors and can't find the URL anymore - does anyone have it at hand?

thanks in advance

Check the "linkto" for that page and see how many of those pages also show up in the SERPS. A Dmoz listing, since Google indexes the category itself, is even more important with LR now in the picture (as it seems to have been in the picture since late November, early December).
