Double Caches

Two caches of one site on Google.

Hi There,
Found an apparent small problem which I hope you will be able to resolve. It seems that Google has two caches of my site – One bang up to date and one which is months and months behind the times.

I’m just slightly worried as the first cache was a kind of ‘under construction’ page which should have been removed from Googles indexes months ago and I fear that Google may be penalising me for a site that is no longer there because although I have dozens of high quality links (PR4 and above) pointing to my site, my PR rating is still 0.

Is there any way to forcibly remove the first cache so Google only has the correct version of my page stored as obviously I have been waiting months for this first cache to be remove and as of yet it hasn’t happened!

I hope that WebMaster World don't censor the links above as they will be necessary for anybody who's kind enough to look into my problem.

Kind Regards

Chris Holgate

They aren't caches for the same page. One is for a page terms.html the other an index page it seems to me.

Welcome to Webmaster World.
You shouldn't list your URLs.
What you are noticing is Google's fresh and deep crawl cache. The deep crawl cache is Google's long memory of your site ad is updated once per month. The other is Google's fresh cache which is Google's short term memory. Google uses it to give its listings an appearance of being updated on a daily basis.

Many thanks for your help. Sorry for listing my URL but it seemed necessary to demonstrate my problem.

The 'deep crawl' page is actually months and months out of date which concerns me somewhat butI guess I'll just have to wait it out.

I'm just confused mainly as to why I have loads of high quality PR4+ links pointing to my site but yet I still have a PR rating of 0. Will this rating be updated when Google does another deep crawl of my site or should it have been raised now already? Is it possible that my site is being penalised by Google based on the content of the old out of date deep crawl cache?

Many thanks again.

I'm not an expert on meta tags, but why do you need 2 robot meta tags?

<meta name="robots" content="index, follow">

<meta name="robots" content="ALL">

I do though it's just that Google isn't listing any of them. I have at least a dozen links on sites with PR's from around 4 to 7 but they are not displaying on Google results. If you do a search for 'Refresh Cartridges' in Google UK then you can see a number of the sites that are clearly linking to my site but they are not showing up when you actually do a link: search.

It's a strange problem but one that is ultimately quite annoying!

Kind Regards
