I am noticing in many different categories of the Google directory that the PR graphs no longer match the pr of the site when you follow the link. In the past this has been indicative of the update. It seems pr is updated first here before the backlinks change. Lets watch

I should say that in previous updates I knew the Google directory's bar graphs had changed because my site or one I watch closely had either had a visible change in the pr on the directory or had the positive and negative images change in the source code of the directory page. None of these have changed this time. But I am pretty sure the only way to have a different pr on the directory page and the toolbar (in integers anyway) is when the directory prs are being updated. I am seeing a lot of this. Including directory pages with pr 0 that show a toolbar of five. Other thatn that example all the other prs were higher.

How can you tell?

The toolbar gives a result out of 10
The directory gives a result out of 7

These two numbers are almost always going to be different.

I think this is left over from last month's update. The category my site is in didn't have the PR updated after the last dance.

Its not the pr of the directory page (if thats what yoy meant). It is the pr graphs next to your site on the directory page that may have changed.

The PR graphs for my category and the order in which the sites are ranked did not change after the last update. However many of the sites PR did change.

Powdork,

I noticed that too, and i was woundering how could that hapen? for a site to have No pr in the directory and pr5 or 6 etc. when you follow the link to that page.

I hope it is an update.

If this is indeed the update, how long does it usually take to complete?

In other words when can I exhale? ;-)

I'd go ahead and exhale, and inhale, repeat, etc.

Ya'll got my curiosity up so I went and looked. At least where my interest falls, there's absolutely nothing about Google Directory that looks different from many weeks ago.

Nope.

All my categories are quite static ... including one that has been offline for the entire month :)

I see no difference in the directory. I don't think this is a good indicator. But I know this one is:

[webmasterworld.com...]

The number of the count is 642. And the count is 6 hundred and forty-two. Neither 641, nor 643 is the count. Not 665, not 632. But rather 642.

When that changes, let the posting begin.

taxpod,
This link is for the real update and i agree with you there is no real update as we speak.
[webmasterworld.com...]

What Powdork saying is an indication of an update or this happens before an update.:-)

Right. The open issue is whether changes in PR listed in the directory are a harbinger of the Google Dance being near.

:::how long does it usually take to complete?

About five days, then we wait for the deepcrawl that lasts about 10 days, then we wait for the dance, then we wait for.....
