OK, here's the deal. I have an old domain that I used to direct to a website I have. I basically kept it there for a couple of years - this domain was not the main url of the site - I had several pointing to it for conversion purposes.

I recently created a new site - about 6 months ago - and took this old domain and applied it to the new site.

Instead of one site I now have two.

Here's the problem:

Google continues to cache the domain to the old site instead of the new site - basically it keeps getting redirected. The result, the new site doesn't get listed within google.

I hope you guys undersatnd what I'm trying to say here - hard to explain.

Basically, how do I get google to index the old doamin/url to the new website? I have plenty of links pointing to it - I'm stumped.

I'd also like to point out that the content for both sites is completely different. I know this makes a difference.

I have seen this happen before - Google will sometimes get "stuck" on the old server when you move your domain to a different host.

The solution is to take the site on your old server down, or configure it to respond with a HTTP perm redirect to your new site. This will force Googlebot to find your new server.

If you wish to use your old hosting for a different web site, you should wait until you see that Google has fixed this problem before you put a web site on the old server again.
