2 domains or just 1?

Hello,

I would like to build a site for users, that's why I need webmater page with links to submit their sites.

I mean something like this:
widget.com/bluewidget/
widget.com/redwidget/
widget.com/pinkwidget/
etc. (30+ altogether)

now my question is... Is it better to create the webm. page on the index of this domain or is it better to buy another domain and create webm. page on the index of this domain? I will be able to gain at least PR5 for the webm. page. So which solution is better?

widget.com is only an example... everybody uses this domain like an example...

My sites are OK, I'm not trying to spam google at all, I'm just interested in the fact written above...
