You still run into the problem that the tracking system is very limited.
I wouldn't recommend it if there is the choice of regular hosting.
Sure, there are some disadvantages associated with a Ystore, but there are also lots of good points.
1-Ease of use.
2-Tracking system is limited, but adequate, and easy to use.
3-For large sites that don't have their own server, Ystore can be wonderful. Ystore doesn't have any bandwidth limitations. You can load on 10,000 pages of content if you want. This sure helps with promoting towards GOOGLE. content, content, content! This can really help you get ahead of the competition if your competitors can't have as much content because of bandwidth.
4-Built in affiliate program (of course anyone can get software for this) However, Yahoo tracks it, so your affiliates do have a higher level of comfort that your telling the truth.
5-Ystore sites are pretty easy to promote on Google, but don't do as well with engines that focus on Meta Tags. Your store won't even have meta tags. There is a workaround to this, so you can add them via the advanced editor. However, I added them to one of my stores, and they still aren't being recognized. Possibly, I didn't do it correctly.
6-You also get listed in Yahoo Shopping. This will also result in an automatic listing in FROOGLE. We don't get a ton of sales from Yahoo Shopping, but it is usually enough to "pay the rent" for your store.
The biggest downfall I see with Ystore is the lack of FTP. There are some ways, but for the most part, it's pretty hard to upload a bunch of pages to Ystore and walk away. Also, not being able to use some types of scripts. You will need to learn RHTML if you want advanced features. Or there are plenty of sites out there that you can hire to do it for you.
Are you actually IN Yahoo Shopping?
Are your Rating Requests "Turned ON" in your store manager?
Under your store manager, there is a menu called "Search Engines" Under this menu is a place you can click "YES" or "NO" for "Export of Store Contents". Do you have this clicked on Yes, or No?
I am not sure, but I am thinking that you might have to have the Export function turned "ON". However, having this turned on does make it easier for a competitor to copy your site. If you opt for the new store editor, they have made it a little harder for thieves.
So far, 5 out 6 of my yahoo stores have been included automatically to Froogle. And, most other Ystore's I see that are actually in Yshopping, have gone into Froogle. I do have one store that got booted out of Yshopping because I had a couple complaints. This store did not automatically get sent to Froogle.
Yeah, that could be it. I don't know if Froogle grabbed the Yshopping sites only when Frooge first opened, or if they are still doing it. Was your site in Yshopping when Froogle started?
It doesn't look too hard to download your store and send a feed to Google. Haven't had to do it, but I have been looking into it for my one store that isn't in Froogle.
