What is the best way to search for links?

I know the MILLION Dollor question. But is there a way to start a campain for good links when you have a PR0. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I did this a few weeks ago and have now achieved some good quality links that should appear after the next dance.

I have also started to see a nice steady trickle of new traffic, nothing major but it all helps :)

I would also check the directories listings in the Google directory Y! and submit your site to any/all that are relevant. The Google directory is good as you can submit to the higher PR ones first...

The search query is very important. You can get results where out of 1000 sites you find just couple suitable for link exchange, while properly constructed query brings SERPs with almost every site good. That saves HUGE amount of time and browsing, I would recommend investing time in experimenting with queries, and write down those that work best.
The above posted examples are good to start with, I also add
-ffa -zeus -linkme -linkshare -linkstoyou
to the search query, plus in some cases -(word) where word= something you don't want your site be associated with, for example po** if you want to stay 100% kids safe.

Please please go and read the Google webmaster guidelines before you read any more of this thread.

Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you'd feel comfortable explaining what you've done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, "Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn't exist?"
Don't participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.

This includes ffa's and link exchanges according to common understanding (I'm not Google). Most likely you will just be getting untargeted (if any) traffic, highly diluted pr (if any), and a stigma. If I see any sign of a link exchange on a site I will look very hard at whether I should link to that site. Go for local or industry related directories for the early easy targets, then try to cultivate relationships. If you go for links that bring you targeted traffic you can never go wrong. Remember a single pr 5 link with good text from a page with not a lot of links can do you wonders if you're page is optomis(z)ed for that link.
