PRs on multiple domains for same site

Which one should you promote?

One of our latest clients has a website which has about half a dozen domains which are all pointing to the same site.

Anyway, one of them has a PR of 6 already, while others are PR0. I've just been told which domain I should be promoting and it's one with PR0.

Is this a bad move? Will it be able to gain the PR6 of the other domain? Is it a case of redirecting all the links to this one domain? Or are they in trouble anyway for having so many domains for the same site?

In my eyes it is really nonsense to try to push a PR0 domain if one has already a PR6 domain. You do better pushing the PR 6 domain.

it may take many months to finally get the PR0 with the PR6 from the other domain - it can be done buit with a lot of hard and unessacery work.

I always say to clients you are paying for my advice so let me tell you the best way. Then tell them to go with the PR6 site ;)

Okay, so I should just stick with the PR6 site as far as paid inclusion, standard submissions, and links go?

But what about directories? I know they'll want the new domain listed in Yahoo, for example. It's about branding for them, and admittedly the PR0 domain is much shorter and easier to remember.

It's all a bit confusing because my instinct is to be consistent at all times :-(

If you really want to promote the new PR0 domain, then you can always 301 the PR6 domain to the new one. Google has been pretty bad at resolving 301s in my experience. But after 2 or 3 updates, it should start listing the new domain. And the link pop from the PR6 should be trasferred.
