Hi Guys,

Do you know any possibility to find out your PageRank without using the Googlebar?

I've heard about an URL which you can type in and Google shows a .txt File containing the PR. But I can't remember ;(

Regards, Tino.

If you listen in to the traffic between your Toolbar and Google then you can get the secret URL. If you feed that secret URL into IE5 then it will show you the decrypted XML data.

Of course, if you have IE5 you can probably use the Toolbar. Have you tried directory.google.com?

To understand how to use the directory for one form of PR see [searchnerd.com...]

ciml, I am interested in your technique.. forgive me for asking an ignorant question.. how do I 'listen' to the traffic between my toolbar and the site? Do you think this secret url would work on a Mac computer then, considering there is no toolbar available for Macs?

You can intercept HTTP requests and responses with TCP aware software (eg. tcpdump on Linux or WinDump on Windows). You would need a PageRank enabled Toolbar to get the request URL (so you need IE on Windows) and you need IE to decode the response (I don't know if MacIE can decode it, try johnraphone's example URL).

My description was only to explain Tino's question about getting a text file, it isn't useful as far as I'm aware. The Google Toolbar PageRank graph is only supported on Internet Explorer on Windows.

All you need is someone with the toolbar installed to visit your site and find out the ch value from Temporary Internet Files as per this post ...
[webmasterworld.com...]

You can then change this value and your sitename in the URL posted by johnraphone and keep track of your PR over time.

I am seeing PR 10 in IE and Safari on a Mac. Now all I need is the ch value, which I'll get from my PC at home and I can check PR at work! At last!
