hello, when i searched for my keyword under the dmoz.org
my website was #1 in the dmoz directory
the feb 13 update now it 28th position this will affect
badly my ranking on google.

what happened is that they use to look in the

inhere-it's-what-i-sell directory

but now the result from that directory only appears on
second page, worst is this directory matches keywords.

now the search result are useless irrelevant search results.

Hi Chris - DMOZ search has nothing to do with Google ranking. I wouldn't worry about it.

As far as search DMOZ results - I get 1 or 2/day. Most users click through the directory from what I see, where I get about 100.

Not alot of traffic to concern yourself with

dmoz search is mainly for editors to be able to find an appropriate category for a site. So it's set up to find categories first and foremost and doesn't rank sites in any particular order. Google has its own completely separate method of ranking sites both in the web search and directory listings.

I wouldn't worry either. The direct traffic I receive from DMOZ is either editors or competition.

"As far as search DMOZ results - I get 1 or 2/day..."

You get more than we do ;)

In the past 180 days we have gotten 4, out of 700K+.

Woe, the results are really interesting. They do not look like they are totally revelant to the keyword phrase. I see what you are saying.
Something has to be amiss here, this does not look like the dmoz I am use to.

About the only real thing that a DMOZ listing gets you is that it pretty much guarantees that it will be indexed by Google.

But Google will assign it's own ranking, based on what it finds on the site, not in DMOZ.
You might (or might not) get some PR from the listing in ODP, but it is still only one inbound link so unless you happen to be listed in a top category with high PR, you won't gain much.

Definity somethin going on at dmoz. I can t get in, "The Open Directory search is currently under a heavy load. Please try back later." I've only seen this happen when they've had a problem.
