Can someone elucidate how google crawls framed pages? Somebody said they don't crawl the <frames> tag, but this seems strange, after all, unlike Javascript, one should be able to follow the tag and at least find out the filename being loaded in the frame and crawl that...

It just crawls the noframes content. So put your sitemap there. :)

IMHO one never knows - i'd put the most important stuff (a natural description of the page content and on theme deep links) into the noframes section. Google loves noframes if they are used wisely.

I think for a while now Google has been doing an excellent job of indexing content in frames. Its what happens after that that causes problems. Properly set up frames can work fine. All the same, i took my site out of frames because of the myriad of things you have to do.

all my pages that were linked from inside frame tags are indexed...so are all the others on other sites that i have looked at..not sure why people think they dont get indexed.
