Optimizing Outbound Links

What's a good format?

Since all listings within my specialized directory are hidden from being seen by se bots (hidden means disallowed though robots.txt) i'm now in the process of adding some outbound links that can be followed by google. By adding some dedicated links i'll reduce the hording of my pr and give google a better feeling for my site's authority.

Not more than ~ 2 to 3 links per category.

I have some great links that perfectly fit into the categories of my directory. Some of them have really good page titles (not seo optimized ... more a "natural optimization"). Some of them have titles like "home" or "welcome" ... you can imagine ...

Since Laz' and other's mentioned in various threads that a good link text should be used for outgoing links i now wonder what is good? What would be a good format for outgoing links?

- the link text should best match the title of the target page?
- the link text should best describe the content / theme of the target?
- the link text should best describe the source page (my category)?
- the link text should only be of value for my visitors?

I now use the format:

Editor's tips for Widgets
- Widget Portal [widget-portal.info] - All about widgets
- Widget Association [widget-association.org] - The Official Widget Site
- Wodgets > Widgets [directory.google.com] - Google Directory Links

I don't want to use a long description of each link -> design reasons ...

What are your suggestions?

<edit>reason: removed repetition</edit>

Yes, the link should be of value to your visitors, and if you match the link text to keywords in the title of the target page you will achieve that as well as boost the target page.

I prefer to create outbound links in the same way I like to receive them. Anchor text that matches, or almost matches the title of the page they are pointing to. If everything falls into place, the link text will match the theme on the page it resides on, be useful to the surfer, point to a page that complements the information provided on the source page you meet a lot of the criteria you mentioned.

IMHO if the link has a keyword mentioned on the source page title (on theme) and matches a word on the linked to page title (also on theme) and is a fair description of the link for visitors you pretty well maximise all the effects.

Then that's pretty the same as internal linking, no!?
