Google Directory Rank Icons

A month or two ago someone pointed out that the pagerank pixel.gif's in the Google Directory give a little more accurate indication of pagerank than the toolbar.. /40 rather than /10

I've just noticed something else though... while the toolbar seems to have an upper limit of 10/10, the Directory doesn't seem to have the same limit.. Google for example has a pix.gif of width 44 (44/40)

It's not just google either.. you can actually tell when a PR is > 10..

Am I being dozey? Does everyone already know this ;)
