Google producing regionally different results

When checking my logs sometimes there is a Google referrer and when I type it into my browser my site doesn't show up. I live in Germany and the most of the time the Google search was done abroad - which leads me to the conclusion that Google produces different search results according to region.
Actually I've noticed this also with other search engines.

Anybody else noticed this?

Yes, it happens to me as well but very rarely. Sometimes the reason is that the rank of the specific page simply changed overnight due to the small changes that take place in Google's index between the major updates. When I search for my page I usually find it either at the bottom of the previous search result page or at the top of the next page.
