Am I right in thinking that link text will be taken into account and APPLIED at time of dance/update.

Therefore any extra links gained after update will not have any weighting until next update?

Hey jamsy,

Yep, that's about it. All page rank stuff is crunched with the data Google got from the deep crawl preceding the update.

As for link text specifically I don't know how or when Google applies this in the algo, whether on a per-search basis or what. Somebody else will fill in the blanks.

Yes i was aware actual Links are taken into account at the update with the new pr rank but specifically need to know about the anchor text link.

I had a site which was number 12 for the term:

blue widget after the last update and then acquired "blue widget" anchor link text from a PR8 site and now appear number 2 for "blue widget" through the fresh listings.

BTW i didnt alter the pages from update to fresh listings.

So I must now presume that these links are counted in the fresh bot immediately.

Anyone care to comment on this?

Thanks

I have seen positive effects from an incoming link between full updates. I believe that was based on the link text and *not* any extra PageRank.

Example:
Even if Google, Yahoo, NASA and Adobe linked to your site (between updates) with link text "nice site", you wouldn't see any boost in a search for "blue widget".
