can anybody explain the following 2 situations on google:

1) a range of pages A.html ... Z.html

the content on each page is mostly different (some head/foot stuff same) and the pages all link to each other, through a standardized nav and often through key phrases in content.

why are backlink sets for each page as reported by google different?

2) a site, www.example.com

a number of pages (scattered sites) link to this site (mostly homepage) in various ways (name, kwds, images, etc).

however, only around 1/10 of those sites show up as backlinks, even though the search 'Find web pages that contain the term "www.example.com"'

what gives?

TeofenGL,

- not all backlink pages have the same Pagerank (some e.g. < than PR4 and therefor do not show)?

- depending on the navigation set-up, not all links are followed by Google (javascript links for example, or robottext no-follow stuff?)
