I noticed this week that due to a decided drop in traffic from Yahoo that my site only had few pages listed in Yahoo. Google when searching for my domain widgets.com shows 8180 results. Same search in Yahoo shows 29 results... Site has been live for many month's. Yahoo used to have basically the same results as Google? - Is there something up that I am not aware of. Could I have been penalized for something?

Any insight would be helpful...

It appears Yahoo results are significantly different than Google for some search terms. They used to be the same. It appears sites listed in Yahoo come up first, followed by Google results.

Does this mean that sites listed in the Yahoo directory are now given preferred placement on Yahoo?

Instabill,

Under my main targeted phrase, Yahoo! has not updated their results since the begining of December! So I think they pick and choose the terms they update, more than likely based on the number of searches a term or phrases gets.

Reight from the start of the change, there has always been some terms which were not Google SERPS. I beleive that these included those sorts of not quite polite sites that pay double for their reviews.

Are you sure that these SERPs that you are looking at now have not been different from the start and that you just havent noticed until now?
