20 sites on the same server with different IP's

Can I crosslink it? Does it matter?

Hi,

I have a question.

I would like to make a project with about 20 sites which would be crosslinked to have better PR. Each domain would have different IP. But I have only 2 servers. Does google mind about host? If so, what is the point? IP? Owner's name (whois) or what?

All sites would have different content but they would be relative.

Is it totally wrong to crosslink it?

Thank you!

Hi,
From what I heard (and read) it should not be too much of a problem. Just keep in mind that you want to have at least a few external links pointing to your sites. Otherwise it may be deamed as a closed network.

It would also help if some of the sites were on a seperate host.

Good Luck

Cross-linking all your sites is a risky strategy, regardless of IP address. You said it - 'I'm crosslinking to increase PR.' That's exactly what the Google algorithm is designed to combat.

Bad idea. Cross-linking isn't recommended with this many sites (in the sense of linking from the index page of every site a link-list of other sites in the network). Sure, people do it but they always get caught out eventually.

On this thread [webmasterworld.com...] - you mention having troubles already with heavy linking. So I certainly don't think you should try it with another 20 :)

Yeah, you're right... I thought that with 20 sites I would be ok. Maybe I should find another way how to solve it.

I have some experience with this problem. One site, several pages, since I removed links to it from another sites, it became an island.

Anyway thanks...

As John says, "crosslinking to increase PR" is what Google don't like. I've worked with a few people trying to clean up their act and get back in Google's good books; I honestly don't think that using different IPs or servers helps.
