Hello,

I just wanted to thank everyone for all the advice and great knowledge I found on the boards.

My main keywords are now the primary listings (knock on wood). I sell a specialty supply item.

Just wanted to share how I got there for other newbies in the same boat.

- Launched the site in early October and just missed the September update. Probably a good thing since I needed to work on the site a little bit more.
- Twice in the month of October I showed up in the Google listings for a couple day spans. Disappeared and back again. After the help of this board, I found out it was the FreshBot.
- I worked on adding links and was only able to round up about 3 links. In DMOZ and a couple other directory sites. Didn't have to resort to link farms or anything.
- I kept some traffic to the site by adding paid keywords in some of the pay per clicks out there.
- The October Update picked me up and I showed up on page 6 for my main keyword. I noticed that the cached page was from 2 weeks before the update had occurred. And all my backlinks weren't being picked up yet. My PR was 1 at this time.
- I waited out another month till the December update and was fortunate to have my DMOZ backlink picked up. I also had more of my site indexed at this time. I moved to the top listing for my keyword and my PR is now 5.
- The January Update just occurred and I am lucky to have maintained my top ranking. Hope it can continue.

I haven't resorted to any trickery of any kind, just well structured pages and lots of content.

Hope that can help anyone that is confused about the process.
