Google fails to find links to site

Site with PR4+, but Google says nobody linked to it

Several of my clients have a PR of 4 or higher on Google, but when I search for links to their sites from other sites (link:domain.com) Google says it can't find any links.
How can I have a PR4 and not be able to find links?

In addition, there is one domain in particular that consistently returned a certain set of links, but Google suddenly can't find them anymore. The site that features the links has not changed, though.

alot of my sites are the same way, google only shows backlinks if the linking site has a PR above 4 (I think it's 4, maybe 5)

I think this has sth to do with how new the site is. I have a new site that I launched before Xmas and it shows a PR4 and no back links. I know Google found the back links cause I never submitted the site.

Could also be that your PR should be above 4 but not necessarily 5. Like 4.5

The domain(s) in question used to show backlinks - they just suddenly stopped appearing in the search results. Perhaps the ranking has fallen a bit.
