How important is the theming of inbound links? When we want to sponsor other websites that are not in our theme will these inbound links (when they are higher than PR 4) benefit or hurt our ranking?

And does it matter whether we'll be linked from 1 or 100 or even 1.000 pages (could be the matter when sponsoring a huge website where all pages are genereted from a template)?

Theme's in inbound links will probably become even more important in the future, the most important thing for inbound links is the anchor text, and the PageRank in Google's case.

You can link out to any page you want, there was an earlier thread discussing if linking out to "theme" pages helped your ranking, nothing was concluded though.

The most important thing when you link out to pages is that they will be for the User and not for the search engine.
