How do you guys tell when the GoogleBot has visited? I have moved up quite a bit thanks to this board and it's advice. Thanks to you all. A little more knowledge ball and I'll be dangerous.

The only dumb question is the one unasked.

Look in your log files for references to Googlebot and that should tell you when and how often s/he visits.

Does anyone know of a good log analyzer or stats package that can display visiting spiders only as one of it's reports?

Something that can distinguish from freshbot/deepcrawler, and tell you how many pages were hit?

Have a look through the Logs and Tracking forum, there are quite a few threads there on the subject of analyzers. It depends on your Operating System to a certain extent, but Analog seems to be the favourite in the Free department.
